Hansol Seok is a leading figure in the international music world, known for his transcendent artistry, visionary leadership, and commitment to the transformative power of classical music. He made history as the first person to earn the Certificat Spécialisé de Direction de Musique Française—the highest-level qualification in French conducting—at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Seok emerged as a prodigious talent dedicated to preserving and renewing the French conducting tradition of Charles Munch, Jean Fournet, and Pierre Dervaux.
Seok’s artistry has also been shaped through participation in prestigious masterclasses with renowned conductors such as Louis Langrée (Director of the Opéra-Comique) and Rüdiger Bohn. He studied orchestration with Marie-Jeanne Séréro—acclaimed film composer and professor of CNSMDP. His formal training culminated in both the Diplôme and Diplôme Supérieur in orchestral conducting under the mentorship of Professors Dominique Rouits and Julien Masmondet at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, further deepening his sensitivity to musical color, texture, and nuance.
His podium engagements include guest appearances with distinguished ensembles such as the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy, Ensemble Les Apaches, the Allegra Festival Orchestra, and the Berlin Sinfonietta. He has collaborated with celebrated soloists including Nour Ayadi and Doomin Kim, and worked with the late French composer Roger Boutry.
As the Founder and former Music Director of Orchestre Niche – Paris, Seok forged a distinct and influential “niche sound.” Now, as Music Director of the Sońea Music Association, he leads with bold vision and uncompromising artistic integrity, guiding ensembles toward the highest levels of excellence and expressive power. His leadership inspires musicians to transcend boundaries, breathe new life into canonical repertoire, and champion works of significant academic and cultural depth.
Beyond the concert hall, Seok is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of musical luminaries. As part of the Sonea Music Association’s mission, he actively develops performance platforms for artists across the globe, driven by a fervent passion to cultivate emerging talent and to promote classical music as a transformative and universally accessible language.
